Take 3: Triple Concerto is a dynamic new concerto by Quinn Mason written specifically for the electrifying chamber music ensemble PROJECT Trio. Featuring the ensemble’s distinctive instrumentation of double bass, tenor saxophone, and flute with beatboxing, the work celebrates the unique personalities, virtuosic abilities, and infectious energy that have made Project Trio a singular force in contemporary performance.
Structured in three movements (fast–slow–fast), the concerto explores the full expressive range of the ensemble, from explosive rhythmic drive and playful interplay to moments of lyricism and intimacy. Mason’s writing highlights both the remarkable individuality of each performer and the extraordinary synergy created when their voices combine.
